The Warsaw IBD Point Research Team is dedicated to professional subject care, quality data, protocol compliance, high enrollment and thorough Principal Investigator oversight. Experience and prior successes in clinical trials has shaped our highly qualified research team. Each member of WIP team has excellent knowledge of up to date ICH-GCP rules. All of them regularly participate in general, obligatory and study-specific trainings.

In WIP we are conducting clinical trials focused on developing innovative therapies in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases but we are open to cooperation in other diseases entities.

Thanks to a large database of subjects and patients we can guarantee swift and effective recruitment, screening, and enrolment.

Research Team Members:

Principal Investigator

Prof. Jarosław Kierkuś

Deputy Head of the Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Feeding Disorders and Paediatrics Clinic of the Children’s memorial Health Institute in Warsaw.

A specialist in gastroenterology, pediatric gastroenterology and pediatrics. His main interests are inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease) and related with them clinical nutrition issues. For about 15 years, he has been conducting clinical research programs in the field of gastroenterology, including new promising therapeutic options for patients who have not obtained satisfactory results of treatment with generally available methods. He places particular emphasis on nutritional therapy and psychological support for patients with IBD.

Clinical research is an integral part of his active private practice which provides him an opportunity to offer alternatives to his own patients and to have a personal involvement in potential treatments for difficult-to-treat populations.

Sub-Investigators

Anna Wiernicka, MD

A specialist in pediatrics, during specialization in pediatric gastroenterology. Since 2009 she has been working at the Clinic of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Eating Disorders and Pediatrics, IPCZD in Warsaw. The main areas of interest are clinical nutrition, inflammatory bowel diseases and endoscopic.
In daily practice, she deals with enterally fed patients (nasogastric tube, gastrostomy). Apart from that she performs endoscopic examinations of gastrointestinal tract (diagnostic and surgical examination).
She is an author and co-author of many publications, including 10 published in magazines with Impact Factor (in three of them she is the first author). She gain experience as a co-researcher/sub investigator in the scientific grant project and clinical trials in the field of gastroenterology.
Currently, she is the head of the scientific grant of the NUTRICIA Foundation. She is preparing a doctoral dissertation.

She cooperates with prof. Kierkus as a sub-investigator in clinical trials in the area of gastroenterology.

Dorota Jarzębicka, MD PhD

Graduate of the Medical University of Karol Marcinkowski in Poznan. She took international internships in hospitals in Asia and South America. Since 2013 is an employee of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Feeding Disorders and Paediatrics at The Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw. A specialist in pediatrics. She is the author of publications published in Polish and foreign journals. During her work she obtained a PhD in medical sciences.

The main field of work are inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), esophageal diseases, functional gastrointestinal diseases, liver diseases and general pediatrics. She runs clinical research programs in the field of gastroenterology, pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology. Emphasizes the holistic treatment of the patient. A member of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organization (ECCO), the Polish Society of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (PTGHiŻ) and the Polish Pediatric Association (PTP).

Monika Meglicka, MD

A specialist in pediatrics. The main scope of interest is gastroenterology with particular emphasis on inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease. In treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease she always takes into account the use of latest therapeutic methods including new molecules or biologics that are in clinical trials tested. Together with prof. Kierkus she conducts clinical research programs in the field of gastroenterology and paediatric gastroenterology, giving new possibilities of pharmacotherapy for those patients in whom the previous treatment did not bring a desired effect. She participate in many clinical trials in field of inflammatory bowel diseases as a sub-investigator. For years, she has been working at the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Feeding Disorders and Paediatrics at The Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw, where she is one of the members of IBD Group taking care of children with inflammatory bowel disease.

She sharpness medical knowledge in inflammatory bowel disease as a member of ECCO (European Crohn’s and Colitis Organization), participating in annual international conferences. She also remains a member of PTGHiZD (Polish Society of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Child Nutrition). She is the author of many works in the field of paediatrics gastroenterology.

Joanna Sieczkowska-Gołub, MD

A graduate of the Medical University of Bialystok. She currently works at the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Feeding Disorders and Paediatrics at The Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw, where she is a member of the IBD team.

Her scientific development is focused on inflammatory bowel diseases: Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. She is a member of the European Organization of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (ECCO). Co-author of many Polish and foreign publications.

Since 2015 she has been working as a sub-investigator in a prof. Kierkus study team.

Marta Kotkowicz-Szczur

Nurse, Master in Public Health

Coordinator of the IBD Team at the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw. Member of ECCO.

For 4 years, she has been working with Professor Jarosław Kierkus as a nurse in clinical research programs.

Her interests: quality of life of patients with IBD and their families, multidisciplinary care, alternative IBD therapies, music.

Study Coordinators

Paulina Mika-Stępkowska

Dietitian, clinical study coordinator

She is a graduate of the Medical University in Wroclaw and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in the field of dietetics. Since 2016 she has been working as a dietitian at the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Eating Disorders and Paediatrics of the „Children’s Memorial Health Institute” in Warsaw. She mainly works with patients who suffers from overweight, obesity and NAFLD. A member of a multidisciplinary team who deal with the treatment of children with feeding disorders and a team caring for patients who requires home enteral nutrition in the „Children’s Memorial Health Institute”.

For 3 years she has been cooperating with prof. Jarosław Kierkus as the coordinator of clinical trials.
